A few saturdays back, Logan, Angelo, and I went to Shadybrook to take pictures in front of the Christmas tress for our holiday cards. It was so cold and windy that we spent most of our time walking around the their little Christmas shop.
I love coming here every year.
They always have the cutest, most unique ornaments and seasonal things.
Santa wasn't there yet so Angelo decided to take his role, and play the big man himself.
Logan wasn't afraid of this Santa.
She picked out the cutest little mouse girl ornament, which she later decided was too heavy for a tree and cut off the string making her a cuddly friend.
We played outside in the park area for a bit until we were just too cold and went home.
See our trips last year and the year before of this cute little shop here and here.
I'm especially fond of impromptu Sunday morning outings-- this one takes the cake! Since we missed out on strawberry picking this spring, we took to the blueberry bushes at our go-to pick-your-own farm. I had never been blueberry picking, so this was a fist for all of us. Despite the hot heat that morning, it was so much fun. And the blueberries were delicious!
We ended our visit with cold drinks, ice cream, and some play time at their playground. Judging by Logan's rosy cheeks before and after, it's safe to say that that mint chocolate chip ice-cream hit the spot.
We hope to go back to get more of those delicious berries. We'll see... For now, we are going to savor the memories from these photos.
How cute is this little set-up with the old door and the rustic "Enter" sign?
Last year we visited a local farm/market to take photos by the outdoor evergreens for our Christmas cards; and since that visit was such a success, we decided to do a repeat. Unfortunately, this year we were too early-- no tress were out yet. Nope, not a single one. The cute little side shop was though, so we ventured in committed to not waste a stop. To say Logan was overwhelmed is an understatement. An ocean of red, green, and glitter swept her in and she just floated along taking everything in. We did manage to get a couple cute 'holiday' shots of her. She even got a little time outside in the playground area to swing. Logan had been indoors for a few days nursing a cough, so this trip out to reconnect with society and get some fresh air was just what she needed. Watching our sweet little girl, at such a happy time explore and heighten her excitement for the holidays was just what we needed. A win for all.
There is a pretty funny video on Scott's instagram I took of Lo on the swings in which I misjudged the length between my face and her legs, and get kicked.
My instagram is here.
Today we headed out to our favorite local farm and went strawberry picking. The tractor wagon took us out to the wet, marshy, fields where we filled our produce bins with berries, berries, and berries. We were in our sweet [literally] glory. Strawberry scents filled the air, and the sights looked as sweet as they smelled.
The ground was quite soggy to say the least [yesterday we received 5 inches of rain] but we didn't let that stop us.
This is one of my favorite early summer traditions we have created with Logan. And I think it's hers too, my sweet red handed berry thief. Sco, Lo, and I are all huge berry enthusiasts, and look forward to picking them fresh and local every year.
Any early summer traditions?
Any strawberry recipes?
All are welcomed :]
