pick your own: strawberries

We have ben taking Logan strawberry picking since before she could walk and it's always the sweetest time, literally. You can see a few of our most recent pick-your-own adventures here, here, and here. It's one of our favorite things to do together as a family, and one I hope to continue to do for many more years to come.

buy local || eat local

"It's such a beautiful morning today, huh."
Those were Logan's first words to me this morning, and she was right.
It was a beautiful morning in the northeast-- sun shining, blue skies, cool breeze.

We set out to enjoy the day with Daddy.

Wednesday is the only day in the week where Sco has nowhere to be, no commitments-- no work, no school, nothing. So on Wednesdays  he's ours for the entire day, and we love it.

Today we went out to our local orchard.
We picked peaches and apples.
We dodged bees and flies, and other garden bugs; but we still managed to bring home the best of the bunch.

After dinner we ate a peach crisp cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream.
^ Recipe to come.

It was delightful.

blueberry picking

I'm especially fond of impromptu Sunday morning outings--  this one takes the cake! Since we missed out on strawberry picking this spring, we took to the blueberry bushes at our go-to pick-your-own farm. I had never been blueberry picking, so this was a fist for all of us. Despite the hot heat that morning, it was so much fun. And the blueberries were delicious!

We ended our visit with cold drinks, ice cream, and some play time at their playground. Judging by Logan's rosy cheeks before and after, it's safe to say that that mint chocolate chip ice-cream hit the spot.

We hope to go back to get more of those delicious berries. We'll see... For now, we are going to savor the memories from these photos.

How cute is this little set-up with the old door and the rustic "Enter" sign?
