preschool homeschool// week 6

This week we were able to get back into the grove, in terms of school work. Having things come up, and this program falling to second string, was a worry of mine when deciding to do a homeschool preschool for Lo's first year, but I've come to terms with the fact that 'life' will always come first. There will always be things that sometimes are more ideal for current situations and things that work out better for all when run (off) schedule. In my opinion, the most effective form of learning comes with life experiences and for that we are grateful. We are so lucky to be surrounded by many people who love us and want to spend time with us. We have tons of family and friends and Logan is so  lucky to have many her age. We have regular playdates and some of Lo's dearest and favorite friends are family. We also do a lot of outings in the community. Logan loves to be on-the-go. She asks tons of questions and makes her own little observations. It makes me know that we are doing the right thing. So, as important as this preschool homeschool work is, it is also important for me to have her out experiencing different culture and ways of life along with bonding with children her age.

P (inspiration here) and F were our letters from last week. We studied them this week since they were neglected last week. I have incorporated 'review' days into our schedule and plan to further explore the letters then.

We've read a book of Nursery Rhymes. 'Baa Baa, Black Sheep' and 'Old King Cole' were her favorites from the collection. 

Lo painted a platypus which was also a new animal she learned about.

We had lots of outside time, including two park trips. 

This girl could 'park' it up for days.

We worked on Police Safety. Logan loves to glue and read, so this activity was a double win as far as she was concerned. 

We also did some painting. I assisted with the shape design. We used a toilet paper roll and black paint on a canvas. Inspiration here.

Logan loves to paint, all day, everyday, so this piece was a favorite for her. I worked side-by-side with her, and we are so happy with the finished product.

Logan loves matching activities. This one was self-care related. We talked about hygiene and the importance of things like hand washing, dental care, and cleanliness in general.

I just had to capture her letter tracing and color pages from this week and last because I am loving her color choices these days. P, B, and F she did on her own. The letter I she had help from her Grammy. I at first found it so interesting that in a pencil case full of colors she tended to gravitate on her own to the same ones, then I realized that they were the scented ones. This girl and her sniffer! She cracks me up.

Logan: Since falling off the "big swing" you haven't yet been able to brave them again. Fortunately, the toddler swings provide just as much fun as they do support. I'm so proud you haven't bagged the swings all together, my little warrior. In this big and often scary world; I wish you strength, courage, and will in everything you do.

preschool homeschool// week 5

This week was a very non-conventional week for us. We had two all day outings: here and here, dinner with cousins twice, a mama's night out with an old friend, napless days (which made for a burnt out baby,) a playdate, and a little pea not feeling like herself. All of that left little time for anything else. This picture sums that up, really. Lot's of drawing too. Our (neglected) letters this week were 'P' and 'F' so we focused on 'P is for Princess' with just about every girl(ish) doll or toy Lo has. Any girl can be a princess, right? ;) Not all is loss I suppose. We'll get back in the grove next week!

Monday Scott took a "sick day." He's been battling allergies or a cold, not sure, with lot's of stuffy nose sneezing and mouth breathing at night, so a day to devote to nothing but relaxing and resting was in order. I think only half of that occurred, however. We decided to spend the day outside, with some fresh air for all. This is how we spent it. We hit up the play ground at the bay coast (brilliant idea) and the beach. We brought lunch, a blanket, and our camera. The weather was perfect with just enough of a coastal breeze mixed with sun (we've got the sunburn to prove it!) Logan was extra stoked because she brought with her, her best little love, 'Maddie Gilbert.' She had a blast sticking her "toes" in the sand and showing her the waves for the first time. It reminded me much of myself and when we brought Lo to the beach for the first time at not quite 3 months old-- so much excitement, so much love. We dipped her toes in the sand and sat with her for what seemed like forever watching the waves. Beach days have become our most favorite go-to family adventure. We love the calming sounds of the ocean, the wind in our hair, and searching for treasure.

preschool homeschool// week 4

Week four, and the first week of fall. In honor of that we spent a lot of time outside exploring. Logan had always been a big collector: sticks, twigs, rocks, leaves, shells, and sometimes handfuls of mulch; so it only made sense to document her little feet and legs that ran all over scouting out the best nature finds. Here is my happy girl in her happy place.

We finally busted out the nature journal for some documenting-- Lo's favorite thing all week. We talked about leaves and their colors and the color change. This is definitely the most interesting fall thing, nature wise, as far as I'm concerned. Lo agrees. I over heard her in the back seat with a cousin explaining all about the leaves colors and her journal. Proud girl. Proud mama.

We of course had to celebrate Fall with a pic for the refrigerator. Sadly by the end of the day, our leaf people had rolled up and fell to the ground. It was good while it lasted though :]

Our letter this week was Zz. 

Zz for zebra, zipper, zoo, and zoe! (our dog.)

This "Crayola" Zoo cling activity, I picked up in the Target dollar section. It's even cuter than I had thought. Lo kept herself busy with this for a while. It also came with additional stickers that we used to create a scavenger hunt for our zoo trip next week. 

Because the letter this week was Zz, I decided what better time for Lo to figure out how to master her very own zipper. And as if the weather knew my plan, it assisted with having us need a light "zip-up" sweeter more days than not. I love when life works out how it should. It's the small things, really.
